Fall Ball

For Little League, Fall Ball is the casual season -- much less formal, perhaps a bit less organized. The focus is on letting the kids develop and get more comfortable playing better baseball.

CNLL plans to support whatever age levels have sufficient interest to create one or more teams.

2010 Season

WHEN: Late August to Early November, 2010

WHERE: TBD

PURPOSE AND FORMAT: Fall Ball is a player pitch instructional league with an emphasis on learning and development of skills in a less competitive environment than in spring baseball. Players are encouraged to learn new positions or sharpen their skills in preparation for the spring. Teams will practice one day per week and play one game each Sunday afternoon. Games start in late August.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: Fall Ball is open to players of Little League ages 7 - 12 (per this year's league age as of April 30, 2010).

TEAMS: Teams will be formed after registration closes. Teams will have a minimum of 12 players each, with up to 15 players maximum.

DIVISIONS: There will be a “Majors” division for players who plan to be in majors next spring (typically 2010 league age 10 - 12) and a “Minors” division for players who plan to be in minors next spring (typically 2010 league age 7 - 10). However, skills - not age - will determine which league a player is assigned to. Coaches are responsible for proper placement of players. Managers and Coaches interested managing and or coaching a team should contact: Larry Wong, president@cnll.org.

RULES: Standard Little League Green Book rules will be used for both divisions. Games will be 6 innings with a 2-hour time limit. No standings will be kept, as Fall Ball league play is instructional, not competitive. Continuous batting will be in effect. A two inning pitching limit is also in effect for games. There will be no mercy rule. Umpiring duties are the responsibility of the defensive team coach.

COST: TBD - depends on total number of players and interlock partners.

DEADLINE: Space is limited due to field capacity. First come, first served. Sign-up deadline is July 31.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Fill out a registration form [MS-Word document file]. Bring completed forms to Snack Shack during one of the All Star games at CNLL. Registration opens on June 12, closes July 31st. For all inquiries regarding the 2010 Fall Ball program please contact Larry Wong at president@cnll.org.
