Happy New Year from CNLL
CNLL is getting ready for our 2006 season with many important dates coming up in January, so this email is a chance to remind you to check our web page regularly for updates. Our webmaster is doing a great job with the page – the information is updated regularly and is very thorough. If you haven’t yet, check us out at CNLL.org – bookmark it today!
For your convenience, I would like to list a few key items here:
- Registration has started. All players, returning and new, must register. You can conveniently register on line through the link at cnll.org and pay with your credit card. You will also need to come in person to one of our registration dates to verify residence and age requirement information.
- Volunteer – along with Team responsibilities such as working in the snack shack, helping coach, being a team parent, or any of the other volunteer needs on your child’s team, we ask that each family volunteer in a League job. There are many choices, ranging from managing a team (very big commitment) to helping on picture day or opening day (just a few hours). Please plan on one league volunteer opportunity, or more if you are able. Remember, this is a volunteer run organization and your help contributes to a fun and positive experience for your child.

- Tryouts for Minors, Majors and Juniors are mandatory. Majors and Minors (league age 9-12) players will have a combined tryout on Saturday January 28, 2006 starting at 10:00 AM at the Kennedy snack shack. If you have a conflict with the date, please contact me immediately. Junior age players should receive a separate email describing the Juniors clinic and tryout information. This info will also be at CNLL.org.

- Clinics – Hardtke World of Baseball is providing three excellent clinics for CNLL. They will be held at Kennedy Middle School for Majors and Minor (league age 9-12) players and the cost is $10 per clinic. This is a terrific opportunity to get ready for the season, tryouts, and take advantage of the experts from Hardtke right on our own fields. You must pre-register for this and we only have 40 spots available for each day. Please come to the Clinic table at any of the Registration events to reserve your spot at the clinics.

- Changes from last season include a new birthday cut-off for determining league age. In previous years, age was determined by the age you would be on July 31st. National Little League has changed the date to April 30th. So, if you have a birthday in May, June or July, you will be the same “league age” as you were last year. If you are repeating league age 12, you have the one-time choice of either trying out for Juniors or Majors. This new age cut off date may affect potential division placement decisions for other age players also.
- Redraft for Majors was voted down at a recent board meeting. We will not redraft returning Majors players unless we have to retract or add a team because of player availability issues. So, please register early!
