Dear Cupertino National Little League Community,
The Cupertino National Little League (CNLL) 2010 season is just around the corner and we are looking forward to a fantastic 49th consecutive year of "Building a Stronger Community through Little League Baseball". Last season, over 200 players and more than 40 volunteer parents participated in close to 500 Spring games and inaugurated our first Fall Ball season.
In 2010, we will deliver an even better experience for our community in the following key areas:
- Improve the consistency of quality coaching throughout the league by applying common terms, philosophy, and training. We will begin an affiliation with All Star Academy, widely recognized as one of the top hands-on player development programs in the Bay Area, with the objective of delivering a strong training and skill development program for players and coaches at all levels.
- Create an atmosphere and coaching style consistent with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). PCA is a Stanford University-based non-profit dedicated to ensuring a positive, character-building experience for all youth athletes. We will leverage the Little League International partnership with PCA to provide additional educational resources and tools for Coaches, Administrators and Parents. Together, CNLL Parents and Double-Goal Coaches will create a positive, character-building environment. Just as coaches have the "Second Goal" of teaching life lessons through sports, PCA encourages "Second Goal" parenting, where parents focus on helping their children take life lessons from baseball.
- Establishing CNLL based community fundraising events. We have reserved 100 seats for the Cupertino National Little League Community at the San Francisco Giants game on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Players and Chaperones will be allowed onto the field before game time to meet a Giants player. We will also have several dining out fundraiser nights at local restaurants such as Armadillo Willy's and Wahoo Fish Tacos where players and parents can dine with a portion of their meal benefitting CNLL. And we will focus on sponsor banners for every team, snack shack and merchandise sales to round out our fundraising. All of these activities will support CNLL player and coach development programs.
- Finally, we will enhance our very successful youth umpire program with more training and active parental involvement. It is an excellent way for all to participate in the great game of baseball.
On behalf of the CNLL Board, thank you for your participation in and support of OUR Cupertino National Little League. Please register your players today and sign up to volunteer to help make this season successful. We look forward to your help in making a great 2010 season.
